St. Patrick’s Day
2013

The New Year is starting to fly by quickly, at least the time frame to get a gift to my Compassion Children. I was trying to figure out something nice to send to the children. I looked around, and St. Patrick’s Day seems to be a holiday that gets skipped over. You have Valentine’s Day and then it seems to be Easter time. There really is not a lot of stickers or paper geared towards St. Patrick’s Day. I decided I needed to be a little more creative in the paper gift I would send.
I had seen on a website a couple months ago, a little book made out of Scrapbook paper. I tried to find it, but I could not, so I went off memory. The finished book is 4″ x 4″.
- Cut Scrapbook paper for book
- 11-13 pieces of 8″x4″ scrapbook paper
- One piece 8 1/2″x4″ (Cover)
- Fold the 8″x4″ sheets in half (to create a 4×4 square) with the design side inside the fold.
- Glue the first folded sheet to the larger unfolded piece (only put glue on a 4×4 section.
Glue the next folded sheet to the previous folded sheet,- Continue step 5 until all folded sheets have been attached.
- Fold over the larger piece to leave a small gap around the other sheets, and glue on the 4×4 section together
- Decorate the book as you would like.
Inside book contents
Inside are Bible Verses that I found related to St. Patrick’s Day. I used BibleGateway to look up the verses, and used the Spanish Bible for my Spanish Children. This way they will not have to be Translated. A couple of my Correspondence children I have not received a letter, so I am not completely sure what language they speak/write. I left room so they could be translated. I printed some images from a software program I have, to cut and put on the pages for more decoration.
The front has “St. Patrick’s Day” and their name. On the back it has “Made Especially for:” and “Made by” with our Compassion information. These are great for Boys or Girls.
I hope the children like these. I plan on doing somthing similar for the older children for Easter.
Lisa
