Easter Butterfly Lapbooks ~ 2014

Easter Butterfly Lapbooks ~ 2014

This year for Easter, I wanted to send something different to the girls I sponsor. I love making the lapbooks for the girls, and decided to make some with more sections to sort their items.  When I think of Springtime, I think of Butterfly’s, so that was the theme that I choose.

In September 2012, I created a butterfly lapbook for Alisson for her Birthday, and these are more designs that I created.

There are lots of Beautiful Butterfly’s stickers to purchase.  It has been hard to choose what to send.

For a gift for Easter, the Butterfly creates a good representation of Christ’s birth, death and resurrection.  Easter we celebrate one of the most important days in the lives of Christians. We celebrate Jesus rising from the dead to save us.   Easter is a wonderful celebration for us.

Birth – Caterpillar (taking care of our daily needs, just as the caterpillar’s non-stop eating reminds us of our earthly life, where people are often more concerned with taking care of their physical needs, than on Christ.)
Death – Chrysalises (represent death and the tomb, and after a short time, the Chrysalises is empty, just as the Tomb was on Easter Morning).
Resurrection – the transformed Butterfly (represents a new life, just as when Jesus raised from the dead)

Just as the caterpillar is transformed into a beautiful Butterfly, Paul teaches us in 1 Corinthians 15:51, that “we shall all be changed”.  Butterflies are the perfect symbol of the tomb Christ conquered and every Christian’s hope of their own rebirth.

Lapbook Instructions

To create these lapbooks, I used folders, and added scrapbook paper and stickers to the outside, others I used file folders and refolded and adjusted the size to fit within another folder.  Then I stapled them together.

I found a Butterfly Stencil at Michael’s crafts, and used this to cut-out Butterfly’s.  I glued smaller butterfly’s together to have the design on both sides, and glued to a larger Butterfly, making the Butterfly’s three dimensional.    They lay flat for shipping, but can easily be folded upward.

Added stickers, ribbon and cut-outs to the folders for decoration.

Here are the different lapbook’s that I created.

Lapbook 1

This lapbook was made with two yellow file folders, with some scrapbook paper added to decorate along with some of the three dimensional butterfly’s.  Outside folder opens in the middle, the inside folder opens on the right side.
