There are several tools that were not made for quilters, but really come in handy. It was suggested by a friend to use the Sticky rollers to pick up loose threads or fuzz from cutting fabrics.

It worked great, except I was constantly removing a layer of the tape, and it was going away pretty quick. I could use a couple sheets each time. I would use it to remove thread off my clothes if my husband all of sudden wanted to out to eat. While not real expensive, it does seem like a lot of waste.
A couple years ago, I saw a neat tool at the Houston Quilt Festival, but wasn’t sure if I wanted to spend the money. After getting back home and I kept buying the disposable rolls, I decided that I should have purchased the “Go! Sticky”, a sticky roll that never needs refills. So this year, while at the Quilt Festival, I made sure to check out their booth, and purchased one. It was $43.00, included the hand held, one with a long arm for reaching and two travel rollers. So do they really work?

So I was making a Santa embroidery design and I had some velvet fabric that would look great, but when I trimmed the fabric it left lots of fuzz all over the hoop. The fuzz was not easy to dust off.

So I used the larger of the Go! Sticky rollers, to clean off the fuzz. Look how it grabbed it all.

I cleaned both the front and back (double sided). See how all the fuzz was gone.

The way you clean the “roller” is to rise under warm water with dish soap. Dry with a towel, or just set to dry. When you use a towel it is ready to use right away. Back to very sticky.
Note: when using the roller on “Water soluble” stabilizer, make sure that the roller is completely dry, or your stabilizer will end up with holes. It didn’t mess up my project, but it took a bit for me to realize what happened. (See the little holes).

I cleaned the roller between each section of Santa, to keep the “White” white and the red where it belongs. If I had used the disposable rollers, I would have went thru at least two sheets per side, and there are 7 sections to Santa.
Santa’s beard is fake fur, and boy does it leave fuzz every where, so when done, I used the rollers to clean off my work table, collecting the fuzz off my machine, my clothes and Santa.

I do recommend the “Go! Sticky” roller for quilting or for machine embroidery. Or for just overall cleaning around the house.

I use a sticky pet roller all the time. Even on me when I’m sewing. It helps. But I would really love to learn how and make this santa.
