I’m so excited to share my project for the Island Batik Songbird Blog Hop! 💙🩷 Jennifer Thomas of Curlicue Creations invited me to join, and she sent the sweetest bundle of Songbird fabrics (plus that perfect light pink).
I used the strips to create a quilted jacket by piecing directly onto a sweatshirt — scrappy, colorful, and full of texture. The pink binding with a decorative stitch on my Juki D4000 was the perfect finishing touch.
And because I always have leftovers… I made four matching bags! Each one quilted on my longarm with pantographs like Summer Flowers and Spinning Hearts.
I can’t wait to wear this jacket and carry these bags at the Houston Quilt Festival this November. Even in the Texas heat, I’m already dreaming of “winter” so I can show it off.
If you’re following the Songbird Blog Hop, be sure to check out the other makers — the creativity is amazing!
